Bradley Bennett
The character mentions the Maitland, Magnolia St, knows that there is a W and E Maitland,
but does not add any connections or associations to common characters/places.

- The character gives good description of their past before they came to Maitland. Other important details include: character has Leukemia, character rides a bike, from Sun River, Montana, wants to be electrician.
- There is the conflict that he woke up late for his job interview; he had a bad dream; he has Leukemia.
- Why did Bradley have a bad dream (is it recurring?)? Why did he need financial support?
- Is the bad dream that Bradley had significant to his past? I also want to know more about his mother who passed away at his birth-- why, how? Why did Bradley choose the Maitland to escape to?
Jaime Lewis:
“When Mr. Evans died, it was never really picked up by anyone, the news ran a 50 word news report,
and Mr. Evan's family ran a cheap obituary.”
and Mr. Evan's family ran a cheap obituary.”
- “I decided to make art to celebrate and make light of his death and life.”The sentences moves forward the plot of the town by showing their reaction and also characterizes Jamie as a controversial, sort-of apathetic/unbothered guy.
Amanda Kissenger
- As I was going to check on the kids who were entertaining themselves with the most credible nanny I could find in town, I almost tripped over a box that the movers forgot to unpack, I picked up the box myself and put it where it belonged.
- I thought this sentence was important for developing the character because it showed me that Amanda is very intidaled and has very high standards for herself. Also it seems like she is a stay at home mom. When she said, “i picked up the box myself,” she seemed surprise that she would have to do that at all.
- The only way he convinced me to move here was by selling me on the ‘luxurious’ apartments. See, I’m from the Hamptons, not too far from New York City.
- This sentence showed me that she has had a very privileged life and hasnt had to work hard in her life. This may change as the blog post goes on but for now Amanda seems like a rich snobby brat. The sentence makes me wonder about Amanda’s childhood and how she grew up.
Daniel E. Richards"The day started with hand sanitizer. As all days start for Mr. Daniel E. Richards in apartment 1009E."
- “Through the dense storm, he could see a little remanence of the bright yellow caution tape still in the parking lot.” The sentence reflects the distant nature with which Daniel views the world- where everything seems farther that it may necessarily be- yet extremely urgent given his lack of exposure to the rest of the world for the past few years.
- “He douses his hands in hand sanitizer, from fingertip to wrist.” The imagery in this sentence provides great exposition into both the character we’re dealing with and the way he lives his life. It brings attention to the character’s intensity and excessiveness that they find to be reasonable or normal, a great way to go about the beginning of a story with an agoraphobic character. Additionally, “dousing,” as a term normally used with fire and extinguishing it, serves a great purpose by showing that he feels that whatever is on his hands may even be a potential threat in his mind, which is great considering the themes of isolation and fear present.
